“BIRDS HAVE WINGS; they're free; they can fly where they want when they want. They have the kind of mobility many people envy.” - Roger Tory Peterson

Petersen is right – people admire birds. Many of our customers ask for the image of a bird on their sign. A bird on a sign just shows how much you love birds! All of our bird signs are hand-painted by skilled artisans and painters. We use weather-resistant materials and fade-resistant artist acrylic paints for our bird signs. The gold letters are gilded with genuine 23k gold leaf.

You will notice from our showcase how much we love carved bird signs. Our artistic staff at Danthonia Designs can produce the whole gamut — from whimsy bird cartoons to realistic carved birds. If the bird sign is large enough we can make a carved bird that is three dimensional. Maybe you prefer a more detailed landscape or waterscape painting featuring a flock of birds.

In the last few years we have begun to specialize in sculpted birds of prey such as hawks, falcons and eagles. The sculpted bald eagle is a favorite Americana subject. Then there are the carved game birds like the ruffed grouse, ring-necked pheasant, and bobwhite quail.

Beach house owners love carved sandpipers and sculpted seagulls on their beach house signs, herons have been known to drink martinis, lounge in beach chairs, or read books. One of our favorites is a winking carved snowy owl.

Some bird sculptures are realistic and beautiful birds perched on blossoming branches. One bluebird carving we did showed a realistic bluebird on a carved dogwood branch. Recently we did a carved goldfinch with apple blossoms. The painted peacock and carved swans are more showy pieces of bird artwork.

Nature-lovers are often just as fond of ordinary birds they see from their homes such as chickadees, woodpeckers, and mourning doves. These familiar birds are commonly requested on personalized house signs. For wilderness lodge signs we have done several loon paintings and carved ducks of all kinds.

So if you too love birds and are in the market for a bird sign, look no further! You have come to the right place.

  • We are really happy how the Harlea Sign turned out .The website was very easy to follow and very helpful. The after service was very good, tracking the sign process all the way from the ordering to delivery. Very good to work with.
