The Big Book Sign

"THERE IS NO FRIGATE like a Book to take us Lands away Nor any Coursers like a Page of prancing Poetry – This Traverse may the poorest take without oppress of Toll – How frugal is the Chariot that bears the Human Soul". Emily Dickinson

The Big Book, in Glen Innes, New South Wales, is a book lover’s paradise. Here, you can find all types of books – over 200,000 in stock, as a matter of fact, with 35,000 paperbacks. Second-hand books, old and rare books – everything from antiquarian to comic books – bought and sold. English, American and Australian authors, as well as other languages, are all on offer. Although most people like to take time browsing the vast array of shelves, the folks at The Big Book are happy to mail order in from anywhere in the world, as well as searching their stock for that particular book you are looking for. The building also displays local crafts and collectibles. This is a celebration of the printed word – for people who have hopes that real live books will still be around for many more years to come.

When The Big Book owners approached Danthonia for a sign, they were looking for something that would be an eye-catching landmark, reflecting the fact that they are the largest book exchange outside of the larger cities. The name lent itself perfectly to making some actual ‘big books’ complete with bookmark, bookends and gilded titles. And the good news is that these signs have been around for at least twelve years and are still looking great. (The price shown is for the main sign only.)
