Kurrambee School Crest

LITTLE BY LITTLE is Kurrambee School’s motto, and they strive to live up to this challenging reminder in their commitment to quality education for students with disabilities. The school strives for excellence in teaching in a safe and happy learning environment, recognizing each student’s dignity and independence, and improving each child’s quality of life. Each young person is seen as a participant in the wider community and is placed in a class that takes into consideration their individual ability, age and educational needs.

The school is divided into two sections – Primary and High School. The primary students learn by individualized educational plans and take part in the K-6 Board of Studies curriculum. High school students learn by an individualized transition plan, with specific goals for each child.

In 1994, Kurrambee community members founded ‘Little by Little Incorporated’ – a school related charity. Their objectives are to support the work of the school in helping both current and ex-students, to promote needed services for people with disabilities, and to bring together the school and community groups.

In creating Kurrambee’s school crest, we wanted to use each element of the logo to full advantage and to make it as dimensional as possible. The end result was strikingly 3D – with the hand sculpted and painted waratah under a sculpted boomerang. All text was hand carved, with the initials gilded in 23kt gold leaf. The banner was also sculpted using hand gouges. Made of high density urethane, this lovely school crest will stand the test of time in wind and weather.
