Amanda's Restaurant Sign

“IF MORE OF US valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” J.R.R.Tolkien

The folks at Amanda’s Restaurant would certainly agree with Tolkien and this word of wisdom. Windsor’s Edge is a small resort set squarely in the heart of the Hunter Valley wine region, and it includes private cottage accommodations, a four-bedroom inn called ‘The Homestead’ , a cellar door and a restaurant – Amanda’s on the Edge. The restaurant overlooks the entire vineyard near Rothbury Creek, and has become well-known in the region for its international and modern Australian cuisine. Amanda’s is a family style place, since it was started by a family (the Norths) who had a dream of starting a restaurant that would have a feeling of home, an d featuring great food, of course. As their website states, the North family has always had the philosophy, ‘The harder you work, you luckier you get.’ So together they worked hard at making their dream a reality, and it has been a real success, continuing over the years and still going strong today.

The dimensional hand-crafted sign shown here is just one of a larger matching sign series at the estate. While all the text and accent are hand carved – ‘Amanda’s’ is gilded with 23kt gold leaf and the other text is painted. Constructed of high density urethane (HDU), the sign looks, feels and weighs the same as a wooden sign, yet will last much longer than wood, since it is totally waterproof.
