Its Five O'Clock Somewhere Sign

The saying ‘It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere’ suddenly became a household phrase when, in 2003, a country song by that name topped the music charts for eight weeks straight. The song was written by Jim "Moose" Brown, and sung by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett.

As Wikipedia was kind enough to explain: ‘The title refers to a popular expression used to justify drinking at any time of day, given that somewhere in the world it's 5:00 p.m. (the end of the work day for a traditional "nine-to-five" worker)’

Anyone familiar with the way that time zones work would chuckle at the notion that it could be ‘five o’clock somewhere’ at any given time of the day. On the other hand, it’s a catchy phrase, and a good excuse for a cold beer, perhaps a little earlier in the day than social convention would approve of. Maybe that’s why we’ve made several ‘It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere’ signs since the song’s release.

This one is an especially eye-catching bar sign, with a hand-painted sunset beach scene and hand-carved and gilded lettering. If you hung one of these in your home bar, you’d almost hear the waves crashing outside. What better way to remember the words to your favourite country song, than to see them hand-carved into a personalised bar sign? Since all of our signs are customized, your ‘It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere Sign’ could look quite different to this. Feature a beer & pretzels instead of palm trees, or change the font, colour and shape of the sign. Maybe you’d even want to include your family name. It’s up to you.
