La Pitchoune House Sign

ALTHOUGH THIS LITTLE house sign hangs in Sonoma, California, the original ‘La Pitchoune’ is a Provencal style farm house near the village of Placassier in the south of France. Well known as the former residence of Julia Child, the legendary TV chef who wrote ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking’ and who is said to have pretty much single handedly introduced French cooking to the American public, this lovely home with its red tiled roof and painted shutters sees hundreds, if not thousands, of visitors each year. Tucked among olive and cypress trees, wild flowers and vineyards on a hillside not far from the lights of Monte Carlo and the Côte d’Azur, it is a mecca for foodies from all over the world, who come to have a meal, get a literal taste of Provncal lifestyle and tour the kitchen that inspired this famous cook.

This pleasing little door sign bearing the same name stands out with its hand painted olive artwork and its hand carved and painted text. The carved border also adds to the beauty of this self-designed sign, that will welcome all who come to the door.

  • I received my anxiously awaited sign today. Frankly, it's much nicer than I had expected. The craftsmanship and material all point to a great eye for attention to detail. It's a nice addition to my home. I love it! Also, I want to thank you for calling me and ensuring that my order was correctly entered. That sort of refreshing customer service goes a long way with me. With so many questionable businesses online, it was a real pleasure doing business with you.
