Why we prefer crafting with HDU
Danthonia Designs prefer to create all signs using High-Density Urethane (HDU). HDU signs are stronger and last longer than painted wood signs and will not rot, split or warp. HDU is weather-resistant and insect-proof, so our signs will not fade under harsh conditions or attract termites or spiders.
Personalized wooden sign effects
Using our Sign Designer, you can choose from a range of wood effects and incorporate them within your personalized 'wooden' sign. We craft HDU the same as we craft wood, using chisels and wire brushes, so the finished product really does look and feel like the real thing.
Our artists use highest-quality acrylic paints to produce authentic-looking 'wood' designs. We use special techniques to replicate the grain of your selected design and include all the knots and rings to make your personalized 'wooden' signs as authentic as possible.
We can produce real, personalized wood signs upon request
Some people prefer that we use natural wood instead of HDU, and while it is more expensive and fades quickly, Danthonia Designs will consider each request on a case-by-case basis. If you insist on using real wood to create your personalized wood signs, please contact us to discuss.
