We have recently updated our online Sign Designer. Now you can mix and match different wood effects, colors and styles to create a traditional 'wood' sign for your home, farm or property. You can even upload photos, images and logos, which our artists will incorporate within the design.
Danthonia Designs prefer crafting High-Density Urethane (HDU) over custom wood signs. HDU signs are more durable, preserve color for longer and unlike traditional wood signs, do not rot, split or warp. HDU is also weather-resistant and insect-proof, which means that it will not fade in harsh conditions or attract termites as natural wood signs do.
For customers who request a custom 'wood' sign, our artists specialize in wood sign effects that create the look and feel of real wood. We can recreate the texture of certain wood-types using chisels and wire brushes, incorporating natural-looking grains and knots. The piece is then hand-painted to ensure the best finish.
Custom wood signs are more expensive and do not have a long life-span, however if a customer requests, we may consider using real wood to create the design. The use of wood will only be considered on a case-by-case basis, so if you would like to make a request, please contact us directly.
At Danthonia Designs, we prefer to do things the old fashioned way, which is why we create all HDU and wood signs individually by hand. Because we do not mass-produce signs by machine, we can dedicate more time and effort to ensure the highest quality at every stage of production.
